Commissioned by C. D. Dodd for the Dodd & Dodd Group, the first of these Men of Steel sculptures

was completed in 2016, with a second figure installed a year later. The designs were created in response to a request from the commissioner to use materials recovered from his steel recycling yard to create a pair of sculptures. Each specifically empathises with the history of the site and historic methodology of processing scrap metal.
